As a student of Hospitality, Tourism and Experience Management, you will learn the necessary skills to succeed in the customer service industry. Keep in mind; this also includes the new and exciting field of experience. Students from abroad will study together with other calling this country “home”.
Our studies provide students with an extensive professional learning experience. You are immediately put on the path towards earning a Bachelor's degree. As a graduate, you will be choosing one of many careers within the hospitality, tourism and experience industry. The jobs include positions in management, entrepreneurship, industry specialist or service and sales.
Four corner-stones of your studies will consist of: working-life orientation, business management, aesthetics and internationality. They are weaved into all study modules.
Working-life orientation
Working-life is closely linked to studies. This provides you with a good and realistic insight into the international hospitality and tourism industry. As part of this you will learn to seek and apply information in a critical and analytical manner.
Business management
You will learn the economic thinking behind all essential business operations in the industry. This includes the holistic managerial approach which increases your skills for developing business operations e.g. accommodation, restaurants and travel companies around the world.
Aesthetic nature
Our profession is very sensitive to aesthetics and experience. During your studies you will develop analytical and practical skills in this area. This requires the creation of aesthetics, plus desirable and memorable services and products. You will also gain a competitive edge which will make you differ from the competitors. In addition this study program introduces you to service and food design and design concepts key to hospitality and tourism companies.
Internationality
You will study different languages and learn their cultures. All of which contributes to your international skills. You have the option of several foreign languages, including Swedish (Finland´s second official language). We take pride in being an international and multicultural university of applied sciences. Our student body is both from Finland and abroad.

The stream selection will be based on academic success (GPA) and a motivation video. Students will be offered the stream of either hospitality experience management (hotel management & food and beverage management) for max. 30 students or tourism experience management (max. 20 students).
For the second year of studies the later group will be divided into even smaller groups:
Each stream leads to specific competences in the hospitality and tourism field related to the needs of working life. In addition, experience is an intergral part of the program-related business and management courses.

This includes information acquisition, critical information assessment and creative problem-solving.
Bachelor’s theses can be divided into research-oriented and product-oriented (i.e. practice-based) ones. However, there is plenty of room for variation within these two types.
The thesis can be a research-based study, a product development assignment, an event, a training project, a planning project or a development project. In a research-oriented thesis, you complete a quantitative or qualitative research-based study and write a report on the findings. In a product-oriented thesis, you create a product, for instance, an event, an operation or a product, and write a report describing the product and the process of its creation. Both thesis types have two parts: a theoretical part and an empirical part.
