Structure of studies
In the basic studies, you will learn the fundamental concepts of business and understand how the different aspects of business and the operational environment affect each other. Professional studies support the development of the skills to plan, implement and develop businesses both locally and globally.
You will delve into the profound influence of megatrends set to reshape the global business arena. This strategic approach equips you to emerge as a resilient and agile manager, adeptly navigating the dynamic currents of the global business landscape. During the studies, you will gain insights into the manager’s responsibilities in planning, organizing and leading within the workplace as well as understanding the management practices in the international context. You will deepen your understanding of managing global supply chains and learn to understand the key principles of service design thinking in business development. You will also learn to create and evaluate the customer experience journey and manage the digital business. In the specialization studies, you will dive deeper into strategic marketing communications and digital marketing solutions.
Specialization studies, international exchanges and free-choice studies provide you with the opportunity to target your studies according to your own interests. Also the five-month long practical training and bachelor's thesis offer opportunities to further broaden your horizons in the versatile field of business. During this English-taught degree, you will study in an international group. Working in a multicultural environment is part of the learning process. Foreign students will study the Finnish language as part of their studies. Further study opportunities
Universities of applied sciences provide further education opportunities in the form of higher university of applied sciences degrees (Master's). Graduates are entitled to engage in further education when they have acquired at least two year’s work experience in their own field. The higher university of applied sciences degree is usually accomplished while working and it takes about two years to complete.
University of applied sciences graduates can also apply to continue their studies in degrees delivered in Finnish or English at university. In addition, universities and universities of applied sciences offer supplementary education as well as open university and university of applied sciences courses for deepening existing competence or acquiring new knowledge and skills.
Career opportunities
The International Business degree will provide you with the skills and knowledge to forge a career in a variety of international and domestic business planning and development posts and to work with people from different cultures. Graduates (Bachelors of Business Administration) will be able to work in varied specialist posts in the public and private sector or for example, in projects. The graduates of this degree work in positions such as HR Assistant, Service Specialist, Junior Marketing Manager, Executive Assistant, Account Supervisor, Digital Manager and Project Manager.
KAMK also supports students in setting up their own businesses in various ways, and it is possible to conduct business operations within a learning company while studying.
Co-operation with other parties
All our facilities are located within a single campus area near the city center, within easy walking distance of each other. Student accommodation is available in neat, modern apartments around the city and students can enjoy the outstanding natural surroundings for a wide range of leisure and sports activities. The advantage of a single campus area is that it promotes cooperation between students and departments. Students conduct projects in cooperation with different fields of study from their very first year of studying.
KAMK works in cooperation with working life partners from the region’s public and private sectors. In addition to partners here in Finland, we also cooperate with selected international partners that enable students to accomplish versatile practical training periods that advance their professional skills.
Internationalisation
KAMK offers you an international study environment and numerous opportunities to develop your international competence during your studies. You can acquire international experience by accomplishing a part of your degree studies and practical training abroad as well as apply for a grant from KAMK for these mobility periods. International exchange is always a part of the degree studies at KAMK and does not extend your study time when planned well. In addition, some programmes provide the opportunity to complete an international double degree, where you complete a part of your studies at a partner university abroad and receive a degree certificate from both universities upon graduation.
At KAMK, it is possible to accomplish language and culture studies supporting internationalization – or alternatively, integration into Finnish society. You can acquire practical language skills and new friends by participating in the student union activities or friend-family programme. Study groups including international and Finnish students create a great opportunity for learning from each other. Internationalization is promoted also by inviting visiting lecturers from abroad.
Thesis
The bachelor's thesis is worth 15 credits and is written during the third study year. It is linked to the student’s own professional field, its practices and ideas for developing practice. The thesis will deepen your professional competence for dealing with working life occurrences and develop a professional approach to your work.
