Structure of studies
On their first year of studies, the students will learn the basics of service business and the field of tourism. On their second year of studies, students will deepen their knowledge in tourism as well as develop their skills in operative leadership. The first two years of studies will build a firm basis for the student to enter the worklife, such as their language and communication skills, research and development skills, entrepreneurial skills and ICT skills. On their third year of studies, the students will have a chance to work on their innovation and development skills as well as deepen their professional expertise defined in their personal learning plan.
Further study opportunities
Students may, after graduation and a work career of at least two years, continue their studies in a Master’s degree programme. A Master’s degree from a university of applied sciences is a higher post-secondary degree. Studies can also be continued by applying for a university Master’s degree programme or similar programmes. After a Bachelor’s degree from a university of applied sciences, it is also possible to continue studies at higher education institutes abroad in Master’s degree-level programmes. A university of applied sciences also provides opportunities for continuing education in the form of specialisation studies, open studies, online study portal (CampusOnline) and working life-based continuing education.
A student who completes a Master’s degree at a university of applied sciences may receive an opportunity for postgraduate studies in science or arts at universities (Act 558/2009, Section 37).
Career opportunities
After graduation, the Bachelors of Hospitality Management have extensive professional competence and capabilities for working in specialist and managerial positions in varied tourism organisations. The programme also provides a good basis for setting up your own company and becoming an entrepreneur in the tourism industry.

We work on advancing the industry in co-operation with our vast national and international partner network. The students can utilise our extensive international cooperation networks (over 50 international institutions) and complete a part of their studies or their practical training abroad. We also coordinate the International Centre for Responsible Tourism's Finnish network.

Thesis
By doing the bachelor’s thesis you develop your knowledge and skill in practical business expert tasks. The thesis is preferably done in cooperation with working life as a development project for business.
